Any info on this guitar would be great... and please don't bid against me, he he.

Pretty sure it's a rosewood laminate DC5E, I'd guess a 97.

I highly suspect one of the bidders, perhaps bidder # 3, is an active member here, some business with his brother needing a good Acoustic Electric came up a while back.

Thanks for posting it up, I may be tweaked off a bit if this sells for a song. Considering what I paid for one about 18 mo ago.

Hello Dreamlander,

It's a 1998 DCE-5 that retailed at the time for $ 1599,99 incl. case.
If you can get it for less than $ 800.00, you're doing OK!
That is, if the guitar is OK!

Good luck!

Sincerely,

Hans Moust

I just looked at the guitar. It looks real nice. Made in a good "season" at Guild. My only reservation is the restriction on local pickup. I sent the seller a question, and called him out on it. What is the problem with local pickup, I said. I can inspect the guitar in person, and pay for it with cash.
Not that I am bidding on it, but I thought I would ask him for you. That would be my only reservation, like I said.
Otherwise, that is a nice guitar. Go for it if it suits your budget and needs. And GAS habit!

I questioned the guy on his restriction on local pickup, and here is his response to me:

LOOK WHAT DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND ABOUT NO LOCAL PICKUPS?? ITS MY RULES..IF YOU WANT IT PLAY BY MY RULES ..DONT BID..LOOK AT MY FEEDBACK!!DONT MEAN TO BE RUDE JUST A REALLY DUMB QUESTION..THANKS

That is his direct quote.

I see a red flag here, folks . . .

I wouldn't touch that one with a 10 foot pick. Hard to understand why a guy wouldn't allow local pickup. In fairness, maybe he has a thing about people coming to his home or place of business. It does sound like he could use a crash Dale Carnegie course though.

What is that Dale Carnegie course . . .some kind of courtesy training, or politeness?

Just heard back from the guy. Someone tried to rob him when the bidder came to his house. Never again, he says.

I suppose that is understandable.

Look closely at that page. I took a scan of it and not only do I think this seller has been to a Carnegie seminar or two, he may damn well be one of the lead team.

Need I say more?

Dreamlander, I have a soft spot for the True American series. I own two D4 TAs and love em both; near same vintage. Gotta tell ya, I was tempted earlier today to make a run at it, but Pam has just so little patience left after recent GAS attacks. That stinks... Good luck!!!

Dreamlander, I was just browsing Guilds over on Gbase and I noticed 1 or 2 of these up there in the neighborhood of $850. Things tend to be a little higher there than on Ebay most of the time, but just an FYI.

I was interested until I heard the plywood comment. Anything over $500.00 for a used plywood guitar is too much. And with the smart axx attitude I wouldn't want to do any business with that jerk. Well that’s my 2cents. Good luck

Me too; no reason to be insulting. After all, none of us knows whether he's really been robbed before and this is as easy a way as any to surprise the winner with undisclose defects. As someone said on another forum: "Run Forrest run...."

This seller sounds like our old friend The F-30 Bid Nazi from another LTG BB thread.
