New bike day. Mrs. Dread and I bought a pair of used recumbent bikes with electric assist yesterday. This is one position I can get into and exercise with my bad lower back. This should prove interesting!

Yeah, I'll get a helmet. These things clip right along!

You might also want to get a flag (Guild, of course) that sticks up so you're more easily seen. These things are pretty low to the ground and you may be "overlooked" by passing cars.

One of my friends (and former bike racing teammate) got a recumbent after he hurt his back. It's working out great and he loves it. Hope it goes equally well for you, too!

Recumbent bikes are cool but be careful! They’re dangerous because drivers can have trouble seeing you and the ones that do are sometimes idiots.

I saw one in California with a full-blown aero shell. Looked like a little rocket.

We have tall orange flags and will be outfitting them with strobe lights as well.

Any recommendations on strobe lights/reflectors? Many bikes have worthless strobes/reflectors. Last week I saw four bikers that had their act together. I could tell from a 1/4 mile away that they were on the road in my lane. I wish I could have stopped next to them and asked them about their equipment, but it wasn't practical due to traffic conditions.

That looks like the lowrider of bikes, Effingy.
Didn't mean to derail your thread, did a search for chopped bicycles, some pretty cool examples.

Hope the recumbent bikes work out great!
