(as opposed to Rocky Mountain High tuning)

I wondered what it would sound like. I thought I'd hate it because a plain third on an acoustic makes me want to wretch. But I like the sound--sort of like a lute.

Is there some unique trick to getting this set-up right? Like a higher or lower saddle/bridge, certain type bridge pins, etc?

Nashville tuning, you mean using the octaves from a 12 string set.

I high strung my F20 this way for a while. Never knew to change the wound 3rd ?

High strings gave the F20 a unique sound, kind of mandolin (ish), but not. Didn't sound at all like the guitar on Youtube, must not of had the tuning just right.

Jeff,

That reminds me. I'd like to get an 8-string flat-top acoustic guitar with a real small body so I could get a sound like a ballsy mando.

It also reminds me that I'd also like to get an Oud with a bouzouki-size body and 12-string guitar neck.

All of which reminds me that I need to call Dr. Phil.

If you didn't have the high G from the 12-string set as your 3rd, did you just replace the E, A, and D with the 12-string octave strings? That would certainly give the F-20 a different tone than also replacing the G - for my money, it's the break between the high G and the regular B (the B used to be a 3rd up from the G, now its a 6th down) that gives the unusual sound.

The Youtube guitar sounds similar to my M-20 that I keep high-strung (well, alright, it is a better guitar) - just seems to have fair amount of distortion on the output?
