I couldn't resist, it's a 15W tube amp, with a burgundy snakeskin tolex covering no less. This thing really howls; it's making me enjoy my electric guitar again. I'll post photos soon.
The differences are really apparent when you crank it up loudly, and it starts to distort. Oh man - just the best :C)I'm beginning to realize the difference between tubes and solid-state; this thing really snarls! I've only had solid-state amps before.

That is one interesting expression - we say as heavy as sin - sort of same playground :chuncky:
The Super Champ's power section is indeed a pair of 6V6s. The third tube is a 12AX7 phase inverter, while the preamp is solid-state. I like this approach…Vox used it beginning in the mid-'60s as did Music Man in the '70s.

But didn't MusicMan have that sh%&/y approach of NOT using the inverter-tube - but instead power-transistors ? And they were not as reliable as inverter-tube ?
