Howdy all.
Long-time Guild fan, owner of a Starfire III and BluesBird in addition to a DCE-3 I wish I had never sold.
Shoulda joined a long time ago, but anyway I'm finally here....

I was never very well-versed on the archtops.
Well, other than the brief flirtation I had with buying an X-160 Rockabilly when they came out.
Now I find hanging in a friend's store an X-180.

Info is scarce on this model.
I'm toying with buying the thing, it's in perfect shape and sounds lovely.
Anybody know anything about these?
A word search here on the forum yielded absolutely nothing.

I gather it was introduced after 2000, and made in limited numbers before Fender killed the electric line.
Natural Maple front, back & sides with gold hardware and humbuckers.

What models would it be most closely related to?
What are its closest brethren dimensionally speaking?
I'm guessing the pickups are made by Seymour Duncan?

Guitar is damned heavy for a box full of air.

:)

Thanks in advance for any information you folks may have.

Could you take pics of it for us? Rare birds like this excite us in unnatural ways. :)

It is my understanding that the X180 was a higher end Corona built X150D style guitar. I think the body depth is deeper (4"?), it has gold hardware and the head has binding. Typically these run $1500 or more. Not to many were made as they were a new model issued out of the Fender/Guild plant in Corona.

The body is definitely deeper than anything I've ever owned.
Not sure if it would total 4" or not, that's why I asked here.
I'll measure the side next week when I go over again - and snap a few pics.

It does indeed have gold hardware, "G" tailpiece and the headstock binding.
Curious, would a Bigsby bolt on in the same mounting holes?

Looks like I won't be getting it for myself, the current owner backed out of the initial deal.
I made a trade for a 1976 Gibson Explorer instead - my Starfire III went as part of the bargain.

That puts me down to but one Guild in the herd, the Corona Blues 90.
Got my eye on a set of P-90's from pulled from a '61 SG several years ago....

I have a X180(Park Ave.) in natural. Don't have all the dimensions. Not as deep as my X500. I love mine. They came out when Fender moved all Guild production to Corona. I have a Bigsby on my X170T & X160 so this one is staying pure jazz box w/ the wooden bridge & flat wound stings. Very easy to play.

Isn't a 180 basically a very fancy-looking 150? And NCMan, in my experience a Bigsby almost never works with all the existing tailpiece holes - if any at all, but the mounting "lip" on the Bigsby usually covers up the holes from the previous tailpiece. The holes will still be there but at least you won't have to look at them..

The X180 has a maple neck. My X160 is the same structure as X150 & they have mahogany necks.
