Last night she told me she really loves the tone of my sons 00-15m...the Martin tone, she much prefers it over my D50.

Then she said something I haven’t heard cross her lips in 37 years...”you should buy one”

When will it arrive? You have to have one on your radar by now - you have had all night to research.
Sincere congratulations and keep us posted. Your wife has my vote as "wife of the Covid pandemic."

She'd probably love the M 20 although I just noticed it has the 1 3/4 nut like the M40, M25 which may not be comfortable. Glad to hear all 3 of you are playing guitar. Got to love that.

Too bad ☺...But the good thing is that your wife said "you should get one" : usually wives say "you're not going ro buy an other guitar are you !?" according to what I read here and there...
Seems like your wife likes all hog guitars (they do have s sweet mellow tone I found), and probably that format too (which is more confortable for persons who are not tall enough for dreads or F50s - Joan Baez has that sort of OO shaoe too)...
M-20s could do but the new ones have bolt-on necks I read. www.letstalkguild.com/ltg/index.php?threads/the-oxnard-guild's-have-a-bolt-on-neck-joint.204643/

You know, the bad thing about Martins is that they are more expensive than Guilds (used to be)...Otherwise they are quite competitive...😊

( Between you and I, maybe your wife would spare you the shame of having to play a Martin if you then offer it to her ...)

I wouldn't want to get the same guitar as your sons, maybe something close, so you don't clash.

But this Huss & Dalton T-0014 is on sale for only: $5850
Yikes that is pricey - but I bet a sweet little guitar.

Looks like I got it wrong previously as both guitars (M-20 and 00-15M) seem to have some kind of bolt-on necks...Below one can hear them both.

One thing I found that made me like the all-hog guitars, is that they seem to make the playing a bit more even or consistent (don't know what's the right word), which is useful for people who are not too professional or a bit nervous...

Well you could always snag a vintage Guild D15 like I did, all 'hog. I'm not at all disappointed in the least even though I've been playing the spruce-top version for almost 45 years now. I think the arched back contributes immensely to the tone and projection as well as to the sustain.
You may even get lucky and find a '70's D25 with arched back and 'hog top; there are a few of those in circulation that come up for sale on occasion.

Never have I heard even a tiny little comment anywhere remotely close to that in my house! You’re absolutely sure she didn’t say, “You should sell one.”?????

I should clarify a bit, my wife does not play guitar. My son brought his 00-15m when visiting last month after being quarantined in Chicago for 9 months (I live south of Boston). He is now back in practically shut down Chicago.

The Martin was a sweet little guitar, fun and easy to play, and certainly different sounding from my d50. However I have no desire to buy another acoustic as I’m a one guitar guy. Maybe my mind will change but for now I’m all set.

Sorry but someone who knew you I thought, spoke like she did (or might have done), so I figured out she did...
A nice thing when you have several good guitars I find, is that playing a different instrument gives me some boost (if this word means something), more pleasure to play then...
I hope you were not serious when saying you were devastated. All tastes exist in this world, and we all have own preferences...A French saying tells "tout nouveau, tout beau" (all new, all beautiful" kind of).

Well then, that's it. Your wife can tell you to buy as many guitars as you like, because your a "one guitar guy". 🤪

I currently have thirty guitars, split between acoustics & electrics. For a guy who does fingerpicking 99% of the time, it seems really silly.

But each guitar is significantly different, and I can honestly say that each one brings a unique degree of tonal satisfaction while being played. Couple that with additionally unique playability characteristics, and it creates a range of possibilities that at times has unlocked the key to an instrumental tune just by picking up a different guitar.

So I guess I’m just trying to say that being a one-guitar guy is totally fine, but don’t completely close the door to the possibility of being a two or thirty guitar guy!
