And knowing Cid, 'Smitty' will be well taken care of. I can hear those dueling 47s now...

She really wants the real Smitty.

Actually Smitty has renewed her desire to play. She loves the feel, the sound, the ease at which it plays. An outstanding guitar.

Thanks again Ken!

You better start telling her now: "Mahogany is for women. Rosewood is for guys." ... "Mahogany is for women. Rosewood is for guys." ... "Mahogany is for women. Rosewood is for guys." ... "Mahogany is for women. Rosewood is for guys."  Lest there be F47 wars in Canada.

Gotta admit, my preference these days tends to be rosewood except for the 12er. I just love that booming DV52 and that maple body JF30-12 just rocks... I tend to spend more time with them than the others in the corral. I know...some things just ain't right and I need to spread the love more. Oh to be retired and do just that... I'm sooooo jealous of Jeff!!!

A Friday evening date with my Pammy a couple of weeks ago has me playing the D40 a lot more lately. We went to a hill country wine bistro kinda place and there was a geezer guy playing unplugged in the corner as is common for 75% of hill country restaurants on weekends. He was pickin' a 1966 Gibbon Heritage model and man, he could play... Anyway, on his break, I went up to him to shoot the breeze and he gave me some great stories about how his mom bought it new for him way back when. He basically learned to play on that guitar. It was stolen twice and twice retrieved. Beat to heck, but the sound coming out of that soundhole filled the room so richly. He offered to let me play a tune, but I know when I'm in presence of someone who's really good and didn't feel at all qualified to sit on his stool. We closed the place down after listening to him play and chatting on breaks. The next morning I broke out 'Woodstock' and played a good four hours before Pam ran me out of the house to get some chores done. Long winded way of saying, I gained new appreciation for the warmth of a good 'hog' and that D40 is getting lots of PT lately.

You can look back through my posts and see that mahogany just didn't do it for me. I've had two D25s, an all hog and a spruce hog and the GF25 I recently let go. I just could not bond with those.

Then whilst visiting a friend in Texas I was able to play an F47. That was a sweet sounding guitar. Low and behold that guitar winged it's way to Canada, or rather trucked it's way and it is my go to guitar at the moment. It sits beside me as I type and I pick it up several times a day.

My DV52 is my second guitar that I pick up, but may be relegated to the stand if the incoming F47R is what I hope it will be.

Funny how things change. I began as a devoted dread guy, then maple jumbo and now OM style/size hog and/or rosewood. I guess the evolution of the player has as much to do with it than anything.
