On AGF a fellow was selling so I bought.

Corona, second F47RCE

F47R-1.jpg

I'll pick it up in Akron next month while I take in a Doyle Dyes show with cjd and the assorted cjd family.

F47R-3.jpg

LR Baggs I-Beam in place of the Fishman

F47R-4.jpg

Finish crack down the lower bout is what the blemish is. Not a wood crack according to the seller.

Going to be interesting to compare this to Smitty

F47R-6.jpg

Grot content may have helped lower the price

$750

That's a real beauty! It seems like a steal at that price, too. Congratulations!

You sure that's just a finish crack? Looks kinda like a center seam top crack, bro, but the pic really isn't that good... :(

He says it's just a finish crack. What's the downside, cleat it?

He's a member in good standing on AGF so I'm taking a run at this, but I do feel some unease.

Hey Grahamy...Finish cracks usually aren't straight. And a finish crack right on top the seam line would lead me to believe the top might be cracked. A typical sigh that the guitar dried out. The top shrinks and seperates. Rehumidifying the guitar will get the top crack to close, but the finish will still show the crack. Not the end of the world though. When I bought my Deco, it had a center seam separation...250 bucks to repair it with cleats and a finish repair.

Of course and I hope I might be wrong. Maybe some expert folks will check in with their opinion...

Twins! Congrats, Graham :D Yeah, you're gonna have to give us a report on the sound-off between Smitty and the RCE.

Sometimes that top seam "crack" is just that - a finish crack. Hopefully that's the case. But even if it needs to be glued and cleated, look at the new 2009 Guild price list and you'll still be happy.

Dang Grammy. IMO that is 750.00 well spent! I really like that LR Baggs setup... Like Dread says, I'd really like an A/B when you get a chance... Congrats!

Congratulations Graham; it's a beauty! I'm sure it will work out and that crack just needs a little tending to by someone who knows what they're doing. Wonderful! CJ

Looks like a fine buy, Graham.

My old D25 with nitrocellulose finish developed a crack that followed the top seam almost exactly. The crack was in the finish only - the wood joint remained intact.

cheers

I really like the Fishman on my F47CE, I would like to know if you think the LR Baggs is an improvement.

Nice set of bookends for the rest of your rigs.

I tried to get Graham to buy that one too, to complete the set for an A/B/C comparison,
but he said something about not wanting to become like Scratch.

I don't care for the mahogany neck on that one.

Did the F47 come with a maple neck?
