The glaze was put on pretty thick with the one I have so I have to wonder how much that affects the tone.

Just make sure and adhere to "hand wash recommended" in the product details. I've had similar mugs w/ other guitar brand (and band/artist) logos on them and the dishwasher faded the logos over time.
