I've had my new Guild DV-6 for a couple of weeks now, and thought I would pass along my impressions. As we speculated this is indeed a Tacoma Guild;

This guitar has a satin finish and what I would call fairly heavy strings; .013 on the top and .056 on the bottom. I wasn't crazy about the satin finish, at first but it is growing on me. It is certainly easier to handle than a gloss finish when your hand is getting sweaty.
I am no expert and this is the only Guild I have every really played (other than a D40 Bluegrass special that was hanging in a store), but this thing has a very full, rich tone. Fantastic tone, in fact. Tons of bottom end. Of course, some of this has to do with the strings. The action is just about right for these strings and the neck is fairly slim. I wasn't too sure about that either, but after playing it, I would have to say that it has a great neck profile. The Sitka Spruce on the top has a very fine, dense grain pattern and with some interesting character to it. Its subtle, but rather unique. Most solid spruce tops you see nowadays have a fairly coarse grain to it.
Again, I don't really have anything to compare it to, but I would say that the lads in Tacoma are living up to their heritage, right to the bitter end. As of April 14th 2008, they were all at their posts turning out great work.Quality craftsmanship and materials are certainly evident on my new Guild and I couldn't be happier with it.
