Hi- just won a D-50 Bluegrass Special on eBay... never played one before but I have played the D-40 Bluegrass Jubilee and loved it. I much prefer rosewood, though, so I took the chance on this one... and I've always loved anything with an adi top on it.

My first Guild... mostly a Gibson man up to this point...

Make me feel good about my eBay win!

Best thing to say is "If you enjoyed playing Gibsons, you're going to be ecstatic when you start pickin on your new D 50".

Welcome aboard. Pictures when she arrives please.

Hi Kohara - don't worry about the Gibsons - winter coming (assuming you're Northern Hemisphere and not too far South?) - so you always need wood for a good fire

Just joshing - I'll bet your Gibsons are a sight better than my Epiphone, despite it's recent restoration :!:

Gibsons and Guilds are constructed very similar if one looks closely. I personally like the way the older Guild guitars sound versus Gibson except for maybe a very, very old Gibson.

The J45 has always fascinated me because every one I play (new ones) sounds so completely different than to the last one. This is one guitar you would never want to buy online because of not knowing what kind of tone you'd end up with. Other Gibsons seem more consistant.

Welcome to the world of Guild and the new one you have is real nice. Now you're going to need a few more to round out the Guild tone spectrum. Congrats!

Congradulations kohara, I just bought my first Guild a bit more than 4 months ago. D50 Bluegrass Special. I was very pleasantly surprised at the incredible tone. I did have to tweak the action on mine a bit, but other than that it is a model of perfection. Beautiful Antiqueburst guitar with the DTAR pup. I'm very happy with the whole package.
Enjoy!!!

Thanks for the comments and welcome notes! I have a Gibson Advanced Jumbo and a J45 right now... I've been through nearly all the Gibsons at one time or another...

I'm very much looking forward to getting the D50... I'm anticipating that the Rosewood/Adi tone will be incredible...

Thanks!

kohara, I was seriousely considering a J-45 before I bought my D50. I'd be interested in hearing some comparisons once you've had a chance to play the D50.
Thanks.
