The Bassbreaker 007 is just loud enough to get over a drummer, sounds great when you push it!

This particular Starfire is a 2014’ and it’s mahogany. I believe, the IV with the harp TP, in black, was only available in 2014’. In comparison, the LB1s in my VI, which is maple, seemed much more lively…..more volume, clarity etc. The LB1s seemed kind of dark this black Starfire, so I moved the bridge LB into the neck position. The bridge pickup I installed is a newer Gretsch HS filtertron…they are bit more raw or “Gretsch-ey” than the TV Jones I have tried. Also, I pulled the harness and replaced the pots with CTS that measured >500k. Really brought this guitar to life…..and she really likes the Bassbreaker. Too much fun!!

I like it! My mahogany NS SF IV is bright and chimey, not dark at all.

I thought it was unusual, the huge tone difference between this SF and my other SF. I did expect a difference, just not as much as there was. I haven't had the harness or pickups out of the SF VI, so I can't compare the pots or p/u windings to what came in the IV. I can say the pot values on the IV weren't unusually low (450-470) and the pickups measured what they should have, based on the info i could find on the LB-1s. My point of reference was the SF VI, which I find to be very bright. I should qualify the statement with "compared to the SF VI" it lacked bite and volume when played through the same setup.

Yeah that’s a nice looking SF.
I do like the look of the harp tails over the stops and in black too. 🔥

I prefer the look of the harp over the stop tail, as well. I found this SF used a few months back, until I stumbled across it I hadn't seen a SF IV in black. I usually gravitate towards transparent finishes on mahogany. I probably would have ordered a new one, if the SF IV was available in green, with the harp. I do like the black, though :)

It is a great amp through bigger cabs, through the stock 10 it still sounds really good. It is the best grab-n-go I’ve ever had. I had a 15 watt BB combo for a while. I picked it up thinking I would like it even better with the increased headroom and three-way gain switch, but the 007 just has some mojo the 15 doesn’t, IMO.

Im not going to suggest it compares to an actual superlead, but it gets you closer than I thought an amp of this size and power ever could. It’s hard to turn off, lots of fun to play through without being painfully loud

I likely would have bought one when they first came out (the 007 that is) but I already have a Marshall Class 5 head and cab...which is already close enough to the bassbreaker in what you get out of it. I also have a 56 Champ and a pre WWII National. All 5 watters. I've even thought of still getting that 12" bassbreaker cab for the Marshall!

That’s one heck of a single-ended lineup!!!

….and you can always use ONE MORE cab, especially with that many options to run through it.
