Not even dark out yet, and already overrun with trick or treaters!!

Love my neighborhood though. There is a big old oak that sits inside a stone wall which makes up a roundabout on the main drive. It gets toilet papered every All Hallows’ Eve. An annual tradition for neighborhood high school seniors for the last 40+ years.

I'm ready with candles in the window (but it's still light) and a huge bowel of candy. But this tiny little gated street hardly gets any kids. Last year Anthony's little girl was the only one. I hate that. We used to have so much fun at our old house.

I probably go through close to $50-60 worth of candy a year. But as it gets closer to 9 pm, I tell the kids to grab a fistful so it all goes! I don’t want it in my house. Then I can shut off the lights and wind down for the night.

It's really nice that your neighborhood is safe for trick-or-treating. I always thought it was great fun. The mall handouts and trunk-a-treats don't seem like they would be nearly as entertaining. Those kids are lucky to still be able to trick-or-treat the "right" way.

I’d wager the overwhelming majority of places are more than safe for kids to go trick or treating in groups of kids by themselves. The problem is the umbrella parents who have succumbed to network news fear mongering. Statistically, the world has never been safer. Everyone has a cellphone w/ a camera, 1/2 the houses have doorbell cameras. Turn off the tv and enjoy the world! 😎👍🏻
