Hi everyone, I just found this site earlier in the week..it is great!!
I have been trying to date and value a F112NT for possible purchase and need some help. sn OA1182 , info I have found puts it around 1969, but I am not sure. Can be bought for under $400 but is a little rough, neck appears to have some issues. I have also just ordered Hans book. Any help is appreciated. Thanks, rshawk02

Welcome rshawk02! Hey, if you're looking to sell, you should post in the FS section, and you'll want to post a bunch of pictures. Keep us posted.

Hopefully, Hans will pop in and date this for you for certain, but OA1182 is beyond his table in the book (which ends in 1969).

Hi rshawk, welcome, and +1 on Hans' book. If the neck isn't straight, I'd say he gives you the guitar and $400 ... only kidding ... mostly. If it has a bad neck and you pay much over a couple hundred for it, by the time you correct the neck, you could have more in it than it's worth. Good luck with your F112! CJ

Hello rshawk02,

Welcome! The F-112NT you're looking to buy is most likely from 1970.
Post some photos and I should be able to tell you a little more about it.

Sincerely,

Welcome rshawk02!
This is a great site with lot's of knowledgable folks, especially for Guild 12 strings. I own a 1970 F112 and it is a great sounding and playing guitar (it was well worth restoring). If you can post any pictures of what you are planning to buy I am sure some of us could chime in with some helpful comments. Usually you would be looking to see if the bridge is lifting, how much belly the guitar has developed, is the neck straight, do the frets have lots of life left, has the saddle been shaved all the way down, string height at 12th fret (action), are the truss rods working (sometimes the nuts get frozen and if you try and turn them the neck can crack or the truss rod can break), does it need a neck re-set, any cracks in the body (if so, have they been properly repaired)...just to name a few things. Hope I didn't frighten you with all the things to look for, but each item = $ to be spent if there is a problem. You may already know what to look for in which case best of luck and like I said, the F112's are great guitars well worth restoring (depending of course on how much $ you are willing to pay)...hopefully the guitar is in relatively good shape and has not been severely abused over the years...these guitars are built like tanks but they do have limits as well. If possible have a luthier look at it before buying to give an estimate. That takes the guesswork out of it.
Best of luck in your search!

I appreciate all your input, I kind of figured it might be only worth a couple hundred if neck is fishy...Thanks again.
