I find it hilarious that many of the sketches he calls out for being boring or terrible are ones still quoted endlessly some 50 years later.

From TV Guide 1975:

And not just by the older generation. My 20 something kids and their friends are into MP as well.

What does the guy who wrote The Cat That Came for Christmas know about humour?

I'd put Kids in the Hall on the same level.

I used to teach a Python programming class and I filled the slide deck with Monty Python references because Python is named for them. I ended up pulling them all because of the hundreds of people I taught maybe six people got the references.

I would have just flunked anyone who didn’t get it.

Too bad for Mr Amory's judgment, but MP is probably one of the two most influential comedies of the post WWII era.
The other of course, is Fawlty Towers.
Not to dis Lucy or Dick Van Dyke show.

A largely unknown, especially outside the UK, but massively influential comedy was The Goon show (a radio series), written mainly by Spike Milligan. This was the biggest influence on Monty Python.

Reviewers with a pipe in their picture are really trying way to hard to appear learned. Or look like Tolkien's bio picture in the back of his books.
