Hey Boys I have the chance to get a dead stinkin mint D25 cherry arched mid 70's for 500.

Seems a bit high but maybe i am just a cheap arse lol

Would you go there or is that too much??

Thanks for the input any input in advance!

Here's my advice: Snatch it up! That's a real good price tag if it's mint :D

If it's in that kind of shape, you've seen it up close and like it, I'd go for it. You might save $50 or $75 online, but yo'd have to ship it, and there's nothing like one you can taste and smell.

$500 seems pretty reasonable for the guitar you describe.

I paid $550 for my '75 D-25M 3 years ago... it's in VG condition, but nowhere near mint. IMO, $500 is an excellent deal.

I have to admit...I'm not a collector like most guys here. And I don't know nearly as much about guilds or any guitars for that matter...SO...I wouldn't buy the guitar unless its got some feature that you really want and don't have. What's the point of having a guitar that does essentially the same thing as another guitar you already own?

Keep in mind...I'm probably cheaper than you are LOL

I bought my '85 for $575 and it's not quite mint (finish cracks) but Id buy it again any day of the week. D25s are just such solid fundamental guitars.

MINT D25, $500, no need to ship & guess at actual condition? If Ihad the money, no hesitation. If nothing else, you could turn it around with no loss, & possible profit.

Why did he raise it, do you know?

$625 for a mint D25 is OK, but now you're pushing the limit, IMO.

Offer him $550 cash and leave him your number, there are more out there.

If he calls you in a couple of days offer him $475.

I gave around that for my D17 (all mahogany, same design as a D25) and don't regret it at all. If I woke up tomorrow and it needed a neck reset and complete fret job, I'd spend the money without hesitation. Guitars that good sell for bigger money in today's world. That's my 2 cents worth.

I'd still grab it at that price if it's mint like you say. Curious why he raised the price though. I like Grammy's logic, start out lower...

I always ask my wife how many pairs of shoes she can wear at the same time. Sure, I get "the look" but but she agrees that it's a good point. :D

So, what will my next Guild be? Hmmm....

GASsed,
Joe
