Here in Ohio we have the "Common Tern" but it's been on Ohio's endangered list for some time, making it more of an uncommon Common Tern. Nesting grounds are along the western basin of Lake Erie but my understanding is that aggressive gulls started a "gang" war to drive them out. Artificial and more secure nesting sites have been successful over the years. So Ohio basically has the Common Tern in protective custody.

"Protective custody." I like that. :wink:

We have commons here during spring and fall migration , but they keep moving. It's all pretty fascinating when you think about it.
