So we saw Marty, Chris Stapleton and the Doobies in concert this week. Lots of good guitar pickers, but Marty Stuart was over the top! And I was only familiar with his Bluegrass music with his mando. Didn't know that he can rock and freakin'roll!

Marty rips, his whole band is hot, and he has Clarence's guitar, a truly unique sounding Tele.

Thanks for sharing that. So much fun!
When I was starting out on guitar, I had no use for country pickers, or bluegrassers, or songwriters and balladeers.
I liked Buck Dharma and Frank Marino.
So.. with age comes (hopefully) wisdom. I certainly know better now. Channelling the universal energy of music is a blessing, in any form, at any age. Marty Stuart and Chris Stapleton make a great testament to that. I love them both!

Marty has been playing rock-inflected country music for decades. Where have you been?

If you have lots of time to waste on youtube, search for interviews with Kenny Vaughn and Chris Scruggs of the Fabulous Superlatives (Marty's band). It is staggering to think Nashville has talent like that hiding in plain sight.

Don't start this vid unless you have an hour to kill

Spank! I've always been a guitar nut, but playing-wise, blues based.
Over the last several years, I've tried to learn about and enjoy more genres.
So I have a lot of catching up to do!
