Have any of you tried Martin Retro Strings on your 12 string guitar? [Monel]

I did on my Yamaha LL 16 12 that has Rosewood sides and back.
I was very disappointed with them.
They were dull and had no bottom end.
The guitar was hard to tune and didn't stay in tune.
After not liking the strings for about 3 months, today I changed them out.

Back to my default strings, Martin Lifespan.
The guitar sings again and stays in tune much better, even brand new.

Has anyone else tried Retro or other Monel strings on your 12 string.
If so, how do you like them?
What are the woods on your 12 string that likes Retro strings?

I only tried them because they are supposed to last a long time and sound good.
Not so much for me and my 12 string though.

I haven't tried retros on my 12 string (which is a F-512 with rosewood) but my experience is that they work better with mahogany.
