Well, seeing as how the real 1942 Martin D-45 is worth somewhere north of $350,000 (article here) maybe that's not such a crazy price. It's all relative, and this is a guitar that's widely considered to be the holy grail of acoustic guitar design.

I think the first D-28 Authentics were priced somewhere in the 40k range and now sell on the secondary market in the mid teens. Played one of those, but not as nice sounding as the '47 D-28 I had for sale for 6k.

$200 Guitars are posted on eBay with better images than that. I think a price tag like that deserves a better photo spread of the actual guitar, not a generic image from Martin. Doesn't anybody at Guitar Center have a camera?

You've seen the pictures they post of used gear, right? I doubt a GC picture would be much of an improvement...

I think you guys might be confused (me too!) by Martin's naming. They are using the "Authentic" nomenclature as part of a series of guitars that are new but built old-style. Guitar Center is just parroting the real name of the guitar from Martin.

You guys should see the D-28 Authentic 1930-something.... Slothead, 12-fret, yow!!!! I really want one!
