Aside from the obviously changed bridge on this one, does anyone think this looks strange?

Hello danerectal,

Not sure what part it is that you think looks strange but if I don't take the bridge and knobs into account, the only thing that might look different is the '60s style stairstep pickguard, which was common on these early M-75 solidbodies. Most people are so used to looking at this style of pickguard:

Is that what's bothering you?

That and the reduced control layout. I assumed (obviously incorrectly) that HB-1s would be associated with the phase switch and master volume that often accompany them. Guild sure is consistent at inconsistencies. I should have mentioned the knobs as obvious too. Thanks, Hans.

Thanks for the tip on the pickguard Hans.

I didn't know they had ever installed them on the solid M-75's.

They should have stayed with the stairstep guard. I always found it amusing that they used the S-100 pickguard which doesn't really follow the M-75 body profile.

Hello Danerectal,

Guild was pretty consistant during this particular period. As far as the phase switch and the Master Volume is concerned, those had been options since the '60s but they were introduced as standard features on the S-100 and solid body M-75 around 1972.

Sincerely,
