I recently put a set of Newtone Master Class Strings....hand wound PB's with a round core and lower tension than other strings at the same guage....They seem to be similar in claims and design to the DR strings...Anyhooo...I have found that they are easier to fret than the d'addario lights I had on the guitar and being a 12 string, I have found that for some reason my fat fingers aren't interfering with adjacent strings like they were with the d'addarios...
This is a God send for me as I was thinking my guitar would be perfect if the strings were spaced just a bit further apart so my fingers would clear them when chording....however to my absolute delight, these strings seem to have accomplished the goal! I think it is because my fingers are not pressing and flattening out as much...Bar chords are also easier...And....they sound GREAT to boot!
I will try a set of Dr's eventually....but these Newtones really are something special! :D :D :D
Edit...I should also mention that I was unimpressed when I first put them on...after a day they started to sing and now after a few more days they have really settled in nice and really do sound Great...I am truly surprised and impressed.

From their site....
>> These strings are a completely new range which are designed to >> have a reduced and virtually equal tension on each string.

I've been doing this for years....
Mapping custom strings sets so that the guages are either equal, or gradually raise in tension by a very small amount, as they go from thin high E to the fat low E.

Playing across the neck is way nicer when you do this...

Thanks for the post... Great info...
