For some of us the low humidity season is passing, so buying a Dampit may not be high on the to-do list,

But if you are interested, I found that you can get them less expensively by buying the models for orchestra instruments.

You can buy a Dampit for a cello or bass for about $8.00 on-line, whereas guitar Dampits are typically about double that.

A cello Dampit is the same diameter as a guitar Dampit, but about 2 inches longer. (Holds more moisture, a good thing)

A bass Dampit is about the same length as a guitar model, but about twice the diameter. (Again more moisture.)

I use a bass model in my D-55 and cello models in my smaller guitars.

I just bought a new cello model, so I thouught I'd pass the lower pricing info along.

Good suggestions!

I also use cello/bass Dampits. They have a large rubber ring and the top of Dampit can be pinched between the G/D strings to enable the sponge part to fall inside the guitar. Thankfully, the seasonal requirement for humidification will soon be over - and in a few months we be dealing with soggy guitars.
