Hi, I'm searching for F30RCE, rosewood with cutaway and electronics. If you see one or want to sell yours, private message me.

Hey CA,
Thanks for the heads up! Never bought a guitar from GC. Would you trust their assessment on the condition of the guitar?
Do you know if they're open to negotiate?

Clyde - IME, have purchased from GC before - call them and ask for more photos first.
Be nice - you'll talk to some dude there who'll take pics with his smartphone and you'll have not-quite-as-crappy-as-the-website
pix in a few minutes - if there's anything specific you want shot, ask. Once you have the pics, if all
looks good, call back say your interested and ask if there is any wiggle room on the price. I have had
them take off a little bit if the instrument has been for sale for a couple of months. Clarify the
return policy with them - with if memory serves return time is shorter / more limited with used or vintage instruments vs new.
Good luck!

Thx Bonneville,
The store is in California so will have to wait a few hours before contacting them. I've never seen a F30RCe without the (e) electronics. Judging by the tuners, could this be a Tacoma built F30?

MY memory ain't what it used to be, but I don't think they actually made 'em in Tacoma, I think you had to go over to the Contemporary model (CO-1 or 2 for Sitka or Adi) to get cutaway at all, or the GAD version.
And I don't think they made 'cutaways without the "e", either.
It was assumed if wanted one you probably wanted the other, as usually the guys who wanted cutaways wanted 'em to play plugged in..it's why they had a whole range of "Fxxce" models starting in late '80's Westerly.
In New Hartford they (ce's) were only offered in the "Standard" series, and I'm seeing pics of Standards with closed tuners.
I'm betting that's gonna turn out to be a New Hartford.
Ah, had a chance to try the Wayback machine, confirmed my memory, from '07 catalog:
https://web.archive.org/web/2007091...instruments/search.php?section=acoustics&pg=2
NO cutaways available on F30 Aragon (only version available in '07, and no F30's prior to that, since Westerly); you had to go to CO"x"c.

GC is notorious for optimistic assessments and people have reported that even "Very Good" instruments have had fatal flaws. The advice to ask for pictures is good.

GC sometimes has wiggle room on price, sometimes not. I am pretty sure there is always room for negotiation if you are talking to someone in the store where the instrument is located and you are not having it shipped but will pick it up there. But in some cases the price was determined in a central office and the local store cannot negotiate. There is sometimes a distinction between used gear and vintage gear which has been reported to effect the length of the inspection/return period.

All that said, there is much benefit to calling a store and getting information directly and not relying too much on speculation and experience.

Spoke to Scott at GC, nice chap. He's going to send me some better pics. Meanwhile, what I did find out: Its a 2012 New Hartford build. It has a pickup, so the listing should read F30RCE. 1 3/4'' nut. It has some play ware: scratches front and back, a little buckle rash, some fret ware. Plenty of saddle. Doesn't know if the OHSC is included. His personal assessment is about 7/10 in terms of overall condition. They're asking 1299$. Price is fixed by the head office, but he's going to check if there's some wiggle room.

If I were patient, I could probably wait for one to pop up in better condition. I'll wait to see the pics before deciding.

At that price I'd bet you could. You can see 'em listed just about any day of the week.

Sounds like you may have found something. Not the guitar you listed but take a look at the "FS/FT" section. Guild Songbird looks tempting in Madison, WI.

Stu not sure how familiar you are with the model but it definitely only fills a narrow niche, that's a solid chunk of 'hog routed out and fitted with a spruce top.
I suspect Clyde's looking for rosewood for its acoustic properties, which those Songbirds are definitely NOT recognized for.
They were pretty much intended for plugging in or practice use only.

Ya, not crazy about that thin build. Strictly for playing plugged in IMHO. I reckon the F30RCE sounds good with or without a pickup. This would be to replace my Taylor 812ce that I recently sold. Just a beautiful well crafted guitar, but there was some harshness in the upper register I just couldn't get used to.

Understood as I have a '62 Epiphone Hollowbody with F holes and playing it unplugged would be safe in a library-ok for quiet practice and that's about it.
Replacing Taylor 812ce get, prezactly, what you want! Great Taylor.

Never received the pics, but apparently the bridge is lifting and has been repaired already. That with the scratches, fret ware and buckle rash... not worth the 1299$ they are asking. Gonna pass on this one...
