Frono,
I suddely cannot find postings with 2 different links in them. I don't know how you are so proficient at this, but I can't find them today. Could you please point me to these postings?

One is for the web site to the extensive Jack Casady bass interviews.

The other one is the thread that included postings from the musician with the (2) 1999 Starfire basses that were played on recordings for Beck.

Thanks much,
Craig

I think the Casady interview was announced here. I keep a direct link in my bookmarks :) I also mentioned the interview in your Guild SF & Gibson EB2 thread since I was misremembering what it said.

I believe the bassist you were thinking of is Justin Meldal-Johnsen who posted as justinmj and was discussed here since one of his Starfires is for sale. But I can't find a post of his where he mentions two basses.

Frono,
I am iterested in buying that maple Starfire. Its over $2100 + $65 shiping right now, but like new, just rhe way I like them. I hope that I won't regret paying so much.

That is why I am asking you all this, I am ready to go for it. I do like nice quality.

Thank you,
Craig

1) As a matter of courtesy you might discuss your intentions with krysh. He has stated his intentionto bid on that bass.

2) The wiki page for JMJ does mention two Starfire basses, one of which is presumably the sale bass.

3) Dark Star bass pickups are a modern recreation of the Hagstrom Bi-sonic that gave the vintage, pre-humbucker Guilds their distinctive sound.

4) This Starfire is sitting at $1,500. $400 for a pair of Dark Stars plus a couple hundred to your luthier to install them and you are in the ballpark of JMJ's bass. Condition is not as good but...
