Putzing around looking at chord charts when I ran across Link Ray's Fire and Brimstone. Catchy, simple chord progression, dire lyrics. I looked it up on Seeqpod and was "rewarded" with some barely audible bottleneck guitar.
Did he do other versions of this song, or is this the only one?

Re: Link Ray

That's Link Wray with a "W". I'm not thàt familiar with his post-instrumental stuff, but according to this discography : http://koti.mbnet.fi/wdd/linkwray5.htm it's on a 1971 Polydor LP. I do remember hearing "Fire and Brimstone" at a friend's house once, and you have a pretty good chance of finding it on vinyl I think - I've seen quite a few of his 70's albums second hand, they're not nearly as sought after as his earlier recordings.

 Yeah, rookie mistake on the spelling.

The image that came to mind was that it was music to handle snakes to.

I hadn't seen your reply Steve, sorry - when Link grabs that Whammy bar, he does tend to go nuts - snake charmer vibe indeed!!

Update on the tune though - totally by coincidence, I was at yet another friend's place last week, and heard a (fairly recent and pretty great) version of "Fire and Brimstone" by the Neville Brothers! I'll ask my buddy for the title of the CD if you're interested.
