The title is too vague. Not clear what you are asking. Are you buying or selling?

Never mind, I see it has a “FS” tag. What kind of advice are you looking for?

Not sure about pricing. I did a bunch of research on different sites. I’m a woodworker in my hobby life and I’m familiar finishing, joining, etc. I’m not a luthier, for sure. The D35 is nicer than most I’ve seen listed. The action is good. So I priced it mid-pack, as that seemed fair and a good deal for someone that wants a D-35. I’m obviously new to LTG, so I’m aware that I’m talking to folk who, in general, know more than I do.

In my case, not necessarily! I just have to do the research, too. Still, I can't really find anything wrong with the guitar. It has plenty of saddle. The action is good and low. Seller says "good to excellent condition," which does appear to be the case. It's always good to contact the seller and ask a question or two. The only question I can think of is about the neck angle. If it's decent, the guitar's in remarkably great shape for a 40 year old guitar!

I notice it's a fairly new seller -- joined in 2022 -- and he's made a pretty good price drop. I can't find how long the ad has been up, but it's no longer than two months. If you want the guitar, I'd make an offer rather than pay his asking price. Reverb sold listings have quite a few D35s that sold for more, and several in excellent shape that sold for less. So as you say, his asking price is not outrageous and is pretty fair. That big price drop may mean he's a little desperate though. ;)

Cougar, the OP of this thread is the seller.

The guitar looks good as does the price. Good action and saddle. Good pictures. As Cougar mentions my biggest question would be to get a picture of the neck angle, and or saddle + bridge height.

Lay a (preferably) 2 ft straight edge down the neck between the strings, slide it towards the wooden bridge and photo where it meets. At the top or slightly above is fine, down into the bridge at 1/8 inch could mean neck reset time.

You also have to measure the total height of the bridge and remaining saddle - ideally 1/2 inch but 3/8 is generally the acceptable minimum. Below that could mean the saddle is too low, or the bridge was shaved to delay a neck reset.

As with yours, if I know the action and saddle are good, then I’d probably just accept a total bridge and saddle height measurement if the neck angle was too confusing for the seller.

Winter is also the worst time of year to buy or sell a guitar. I will never sell a guitar when the temps anywhere in the country are below 32. Higher risk of finish damage. Some people don’t buy in the winter unless it is fairly rare and/or a steal. Sales should pick up once spring arrives.

Whatever you list the guitar for, even on sale, people will always try to bargain. They want a steal. Psych 101 says to raise the price so you can take 20% off ( after sale and offer) and still pay Reverb+Paypal 9-10% in fees. Do not short change yourself on shipping and insurance or you’ll eat that too.

I think HeyMikey's advice is spot on.

Good luck with the sale, it looks like a fine guitar.

Hello all! I'm pulling the guitar from Reverb and will relist here. re: neck angle. When using the straight edge method, should the guitar be tuned to pitch or unstrung? I've seen it both ways on various Youtube sites.
I live about 30 mins from Zions Crossroad in VA. I volunteer to check this out for a LTG member who's interested. PM me.

When checking neck angle I have it tuned to pitch.

Bravo Rich C for enabling ! That is why I love this place. Buying and selling directly between known forum members is a great way to do it.

So, some basic help here. I would like to delete the post with the link to Reverb since the link is no longer valid. Not obvious to me how to do it, or to delete irrelevant posts in general.

I believe I’ve received the info I need, so closing the thread is OK?

Missmyd40,
Just to be clear, I'm not interested in the guitar...just helping out LTGers.
