Shin Joong Hyun / Kim Jeong Mi "The Sun"

Been really getting into this lately. For those who don't know, Shin Joong Hyun was (is, not dead yet!) a guitarist who was extremely active in the 1960s and 70s in his youth (he's in his 70s now), who drew the ire of the dictator at the time, Pak Cheong-hee, for refusing to include 'wholesome' songs praising the dictatorship on his albums. As a result, he was banned from performing in public until Pak got a bullet in the head from his spy chief, who committed suicide thereafter. At this point, Shin had already been thrown into a mental institution for his music and been busted for pot.

For another track that's just gorgeous, check out Kim Choo Ja's "Before It's Too Late", or for some awesome riffs that really nail a sound you just never hear anymore, there's this one, again with Shin.

I just.. I find this music so beautiful, so amazing, so moving, and all around me is some mashup between cheap club music and teeny pop. And I don't dislike electronic music, I just understand that, well, you can only recycle things so much before they get, well.. stale. K-pop.. well past its expiration date, IMHO.
