Well, a signed "Slash" model from Gibson is almost $13k, so maybe a steal at $6999...

guess that guy in Florida that's been asking $3,500 for a 73 Deluxe, for the past 5-10 years... doesn't look so crazy now

Ridiculous price point, but I hope this means more reasonably-priced non-signature USA made electrics in the future. Seems a reasonable possibility under Yamaha.

have to say I am not exactly on board with taking a one-piece old growth Honduran mahogany slab and painting it solid white. especially at the price, i'd like to see the (presumably beautiful) evidence. Not trying to be negative as I'm sure this is a fine guitar, and that there are buyers out there at the high price, that will be happy with it. I'd have gone in a different direction with the finish color however. more of an Nature Boy, or TPC.

I'm guessing it's an homage to this one:

According to Guild the pickups are hand-wound by Jason Lollar:
If he knows the secret recipe I'm wondering if he'll either 1) do HB-1 re-winds for a dead (or non-dead) pickup or 2) wind a new HB-1 from scratch.

I believe his original early 70's one, which the 90's reissues were based on, was NB. the one piece old growth Hondurian could have been showcased, it could still be a KT

I wish I was still travelling. I'd fly to Chicago or wherever Sweetwater is and try one so I can see if it's filled with silver dollars or something.

On paper I love that it's got Lollar-wound HB1s, I love ttat it's got a real Mueller bridge, and I love that it's got better tuners. The pickups and bridge no doubt cost some money to have made, but c'mon.

It looks like it uses the same psuedo-inlay headstock veneer as the imports and the knobs looks like they've got VOL/TONE on them which wouldn't be right. No idea why they put gold hardware on it. Maybe to make it look like it's worth more?

Could the body and neck wood could be visually-flawed or not that wonderful, and thus painted over ala Leo Fender with some
of his earlier work?

Just so I've got the math right: This is a reissue of a reissue which was a reimagining of the original model. Fourth generation? I need to take a walk because this guitar has me unreasonably annoyed.

Gibson Custom Shop Historic SGs are cheaper!

A Murphy Lab SG is $7499!

Guild is out of their freaking minds.

Not a great re-intro to US-made electrics. And I don’t see them selling like gangbusters, which may make it less inviting for them to do more non-imports.

If there was a history of vintage Guilds selling for that much, even other, non S-100, models, this might make sense.

According to Guild's website, they are only doing thirty of them

If they only made five of them, Kim Thayil kept four, then he played the fifth on on stage and signed it then personally handed to me in my living room then I *might* pay $7k for it, but he better bring a nice bottle of Scotch or I'm not even letting him in.
