Kay Swing Master single pickup

1957 to 1960 single pickup Kay Swing Master, replacement pickguard.
Had it gone over a few months ago, volume pot is a little scratchy, but works well. Includes non original hard case; looks rough, but protects the guitar.

Re: Kay Swing Master

I hope someone agrees who'd like to try it on for size.

Re: Kay Swing Master

That's a very cool guitar, at a great price. Could be mistaken, but I don't think it's a Swingmaster. The SM had two or three Kleenex box p/us, bound neck, some other differences. Yours has what I've heard called the "speedbump" p/u. Just as good in its own way.

Re: Kay Swing Master

Swing Master was introduced in 1957 with one, two or three "Speed bump" pickups. The single pickup is model number 6960, as is stamped inside the back of this one. The pickups & some other features were changed in 1961, and the name condensed to Swingmaster, which is why we know this one is 1957 to 1960.
Here's an image from the 1960 catalog. It's kind of small, but if you look hard, in the upper left, you can read the catalog description.

Mando:

Interesting stuff. I had no idea how that model evolved, should have noted your spelling. Thanks for the clarification!
