It's a 1979 Fender Stratocaster completely original from the original owner. It truly is near mint condition. The 70's Strats were never my favorites although I do like the big headstock. After playing it for a few days, I think I'm actually bonding with this one.

Nicely done. Does this mean you have to change your name now?

Nah, I have 4 Teles to keep this one company! I'm a bit of a gear whore and currently own 16 or 17 guitars. Several of them are hand built guitars I made over the years.

Blond and a hardtail too!
Do you have any idea how obscene that sounds when the nanny software is blocking images and so the only context in the thread is the text?

Very nice. Looks like it came right off the showroom floor. Did the original owner ever play it?

Congrats,
Joe

Yeah, it's been played. There is some fret wear and the pickguard shows evidence of enthusiastic strumming. The guitar is near mint though. Perhaps the cleanest example of a '79 I've ever seen.

That is the twin to my very first real guitar love. Identical.........except for the near mint part. Definitely one I wouldn't mind having back again.

Well, I haven't completely bonded with it yet. Tap me a line. Make me an offer. Re-live the glory! LOL!

Nice!

So who's the pro photographer? Original or current owner? :D

That would be me. I am Staff Photographer for American Iron Magazine and RoadBike Magazine. I've been shooting bikes for 20 years. Just did a shoot at Orange County Choppers on Thursday. Lots of fun.

That must be quite the working environment!
How's Mikey doing these days?

Joe

In all honesty, the studio at Orange County, (if you can call it a studio), really sucks. I'm amazed that a company so totally image conscious has dropped the ball on the studio.

I haven't talked to Mikey in a while. Several years ago I got an assignment to shoot his "Blues Bike." When I got there, Mikey was afraid to ride it so I tossed him the keys to my car and I rode the bike to the location to shoot it. Pretty funny. He's a good guy that is just pleased as punch to suddenly be rich and desired by lots of women. A regular guy. LOL!

The studio here at the office isn't much to speak of either. The ceiling is only 8 feet and the room is only 25 x 25. Not nearly big enough to shoot bikes but, fine for product shots and such. It's a living.

Right on, I'm always jealous of well taken photographs, (and anyone making their living in the arts). I think that's a great guitar, too.

Not crazy about 70's strats in general, but that's a very nice looking one, congrats!

I'm enjoying this one. I'm not too thrilled with 70's Strats either but I got a good one here. I just might keep it.
