I'v been wanting a 50's X175 for a real long time. But I couldn't afford one. So I ordered the new X175 from Thomann.de last week and it arrived today.
I have to say this is the best new guitar I ever bought. Out of the box it plays great! And the pickups sound really saturated and warm. I have not compared them with original franz pickups, but they sure sound very nice. The back on this guitar is also very nice. A walnut stain with heavy grain.
All I can say is fender did a great job in making these guitars!

Congratulations! Haven't seen one of these in person yet, but seeing all the pictures that are appearing online, I have to say it's amazing how they captured the look of the real thing.

I have to agree that they did a great job on these relatively inexpensive guitars. I love my NS A150B. Great tone and playability. They look really nice too. Congrats on the new axe.

That's a beautiful guitar. I still get a little freaked out looking at how dead-on accurate these look. That looks like a brand new, *vintage* Guild. :)

Man I am getting jealous. One part of me wants to get the A-150b with the other part of me wanting the X-175.......At least Guild is now putting them out there at VERY reasonable prices. Is anybody on this group contemplating one of the Patriarch Artist Awards? jim in Maine

My thoughts exactly.

That said, if you look at the pickguard and the notch that's cut out for the lead pickup, you can really see that the lead pickup has been moved towards the neck a little, compared to 50's guitars. Which might be a good thing, btw.

Jim,

I considered it, but the 50's X-500 and A-500 are my ultimate guitars, so I could not pass on th X-500. I definitely can't afford both the X-500 and the AA, so I am one and done...unless I win the lottery!

That's probably the only thing I don't like about them, they look brand new and too shiny. These would have been perfect with a thinskin nitro finish.

"thinskin" is a marketing term. Most Nitrocellulose finishes aren't all thàt thin when brand new. Nitro never really stops curing, so it gets thinner over time. And a brand new nitro finish has a different kind of gloss, but it's plenty shiny.

Nitro would have made these guitars at least 50% more expensive, I bet.

Yep I do have to say that my '60 A-500 has to be one of my favorite Guilds. What I love about this guitar is its acoustic tone which when amplified by the old DeArmond on it only increases the natural tone of the instrument which is the way it should be ......jim in Maine

Apparently, you can't shoot nitro in Korea. Might be pollution laws.
Correct! It's funny however that a recent add of the limited black M-75 claimed it would have a nitro finish but it was clearly a MIK model...

Wow, that's beautiful, congrats! Those pickups however could use a little patina, they look whiter than white.

Nitro may be nearly as shiny but it feels different. Would make it a different, better guitar in my opinion. But also pricier, that's correct.

It would be cool if we could get more videos of these being played besides the ones Guild put up,(which are great)... It would be nice to hear some putting the different pickups and combinations through their paces, how much buzz from lights, etc
