Just wanted to share that I just received my new 2005 Tacoma built Guild F50 purchased on Ebay and I have to say, it's the best Guild jumbo I've ever owned. Guitar is in excellent to near mint condition! I've owned 4 other JF30's (2 Pre-Fenders, 1 Westerly Fender, and 1 Corona), and the Tacoma's fit, finish, and tone are excellent. Everything about this guitar is beautiful! I owned a Westerly Fender D55 a few years back but I never made this type of impression on me. I really like the contrast of the neck and maple body. In pictures, it looks like it's one color but it's really a dark stain. Upon close inspection you can see the details of the the 3 piece neck. Really rumbles with an aggressive strum with it's belly held closely. Every part of my body that touches this guitar feels it's vibration while playing. I am so please and you guys would not believe me if I told you how much I paid for it.

Just wanted to share and ask if anyone knew whether the Tacoma Jumbos are thinner than the Corona's and Westerly's. This guitar fits in my guitar stand as apposed to the others; they were a little thicker and didn't fit in the stand as well.

As far as I know, the Tacomas are just like the Westerlys. Only better. The necks are a little smaller, more 21st century .. . . .

You are right the neck is a little thinner. I really wouldn't mind a thicker neck. I played a Tacoma D50 Bluegrass Special at Buffalo Brothers in Carlsbad, CA and I loved the clunkier thick neck. I tested all the Martins that day and the tone and playability of the D50 was awesome.

Back to the F50, my wife must came into my computer/guitar room and said that the guitar had too much bling. I smirked but I love it, looks so nice, I like the ornamentation! My 5 year old son said, "I like your new guitar dad, especially the shield, and the shinny things (mop fretmarkers)." Now he definatly knows what he's talking about - no DNA test needed! :D

Congrats, vuster!

There have definitely been some dimensional changes in the F512 jumbo 12 in Tacoma, but I don't know if that rolled out to the F50s or not. Guild's web page says that they were moving back to dimensions from early models. I've been collecting some of the data in a thread around here, but I have stalled a bit.

Congrats, again.

You were close with the picture posting. Just use "Img" instead of "URL" to get the picture to show. That said, let me help you out.

Thanks for all the replies guys. I wish I've had more time to play her. I've been busy the last few days finishing up a bathroom remodle. Laying slate and travertine is a pain, my back and forearms are killing me!

Anyways, I love the sound, like I said, I've owned other Guild jumbos in the past but this guitar is for sure the best looking. I really like the tone, to me very similar to Westerly Jumbos, but it has tons of volume. Seems to have more headroom that my Martin. Very smooth with lots of sustain. Great for strumming and I have a heavy hand so this guitar suits me well.

With my other Guild Jumbo's, I've experimented with many variation of strings and string tensions but prefer Elixir PB Mediums. Elixir PB Medium's tuned down half step seem to really work well with this guitar. I really don't like the sound of lights / 80/20 on this guitar.

I'm gunna get off the computer and start strumming! :)

Love the look of the binding and the simple rosette, that spruce top is mesmerizing, and the back is killer. Not a fan of gold hardware ever, though, and wish Guild would use darker pickguard material like they used to. I wish I could play it !

I'll add my congratulations. That is a beautiful guitar and must just have killer tone. I played a Tacoma rosewood F50 recently that was just amazing-sounding and had meticulous detail work. Would like to have heard the maple version.
Good luck with it.
