I've just watched a DVD That I scored this weekend from our local markets......, "NOWHERE BOY", The extraordinary untold story of John Lennon. If you are a Beatles fan, ( ESPECIALLY if youre a John Lennon fan...) THIS is a REAL TREAT!
A VERY GOOD telling of the tale of Lennon's life BEFORE, and leading up to the BEATLES. Mainly focused on his relationship with his Aunt Mimi, and his mother, and Him at age 15 , in Liverpool, At Quarry grammer, meeting Paul, on towards him leaving for Hamburg. A great 'untold' John focused, story....well acted and with LOTS of GREAT OLD GUITARS to be SEEN!!! Some great Rock and Roll History, and songs( should be a cool soundtrack) .......just a real Visual treat all around..........

I have been waiting, rather impatiently, for the release this film, initially planned for this spring.
Thought I read somewhere the U.S. release was now scheduled for October... :x

Vh1 aired something last Sunday which I stumbled onto partway through--was pretty decent actually. Wonder if this is the same flick? I particularly remember a scene where George plays some licks for John a bus, and John says something like "Anybody who can get up Aunt Mimi's nose so quickly is all right by me, welcome to the band!" :lol:
What I saw seemed very historically accurate from what I remember of everything I've seen til now. Didn't get to see the tail end, though, had to go out.

That VH1 show was "In My Life", also about John's early years. But I have no idea if it is the same show as "Nowhere Boy".

sounds like it COULD be.............The scene that Al described, is much like a scene in this movie.........They sometimes change movie titles ( WHY? I dont know.) from there to here. Like that movie VISIONQUEST, became "Crazy for you" down here...So This could be the same thing. :roll:

Well in Australia for example "Visionsquest" could easily be taken to be about exotic aboriginal shamanic practices...which frankly might be a more interesting subject to me at least! :lol:
