Joe Elliott and Phil Collen of Def Leppard stopped by the Rolling Stone office recently to play stripped-down acoustic versions of two of their band's biggest hits, "Hysteria" and "Pour Some Sugar on Me."

Not sure what "True American" model Joe Elliott's black Guild is, it seems to have no bracing on the back inside.

Interesting how the Guild carries the song. Not much to hear from the blingy Taylor.

Does somebody know what Guild model of the "True American" series that is? It's a Dreadnought with cutaway showing "True American" on the TRC. The label almost reads something like "DV" ? But a DV with cutaway? It definitely shows no back bracing inside I think.

Probably one of the "DCE" series. Looked like gold tuners for one thing. Definitely arched back, looked like 'hog on my screen. I'm thinking DCE-1 due to that and no Chesterfield. In fact my winter '97 Guild Gallery says "..the "True American" series BEGAN with these Dreadnought Cutaway Electric guitars."

@adorshki: Good catch! Yes, looks like a DCE-1 True American.

I found a picture at bostonguitar.com:

Good stuff. They pan over the Taylor headstock 4 or 5 times and not once over the Guild. And the hits just keep comin'.

I noticed that too. Of course, the Taylor headstock was pretty much center stage because of positioning..... but you could never really get a look at the Guild. Obviously the cameraman was not a member of this forum...... Tom in Vegas
