Looking at a jf55-12 but it has some small bindind issues on the lower bout. Guitar looks pretty good but I'm scared of the repair and other possible issues. I can't do any of the workso I'd reaaly have to get it for the right price. He's asking 1200.Any help or opinions are greatly appreciated.

Hey redta, welcome to the forum!! I can't address the price and without pictures people will be reluctant to advise, unless it's a general number based on a guitar in really good shape. How's the neck angle? Plenty of saddle left on the bridge? Break angle of the strings over the saddle is good? Also, what type of "issues" is the binding having? If it's just come loose, regluing binding is easy peasy. That's cosmetics. Any way you could post a picture or two? You have to host the photo with an online hosting service and then paste the direct link between the "Img" codes in the toolbar.

More information and advice will be forthcoming soon. :)

Tom, I'm not sure, but it may be this JF55-12 mentioned here. I've been in touch with the seller, and he has not taken it to a luthier to determine any bracing problems (but did state the guitar has been 'stable' for years). :)

Best of luck, redta! And, welcome to LTG. :)

That ad states that the guitar got too hot in a car. I'd worry about other glued joints suffering some joint creep when it was over-heated.

Probably a good idea to let a professional repair-person inspect the instrument prior to a purchase.

Hey guys that's the one . Just called me back and wants to deal. Good point about heat and dry issues.Even at $1000 don't want to stick another 700 and time into repairs. But I do love the rosewood sound. Got the ser # aj520570. Looks like 2000 or 2001? Guild records only go to 1999.

BEWARE!!!! Like I said on other thread-went to buy and was deceived by pictures and seller. Very dry guitar and split in top from bottom of bridge to bout binding. Also sever lifting of bridge. To me it is unplayable in it's condition. Can't be the same guitar from the front picture that's shown.
