JF30AB price check?

Guitar is a JF30 AB, w/OHSC, Westerly RI mfg.

Seller's ad said it is a 1988, and is asking 1K.

What do you seasoned vets think about pricing this JF30AB?

IMO, per seller's pics, condition is VGC,
Finish mars on the back, back of neck, and headstock.
Gold tuners heavily tarnished.

Hello Jamie,

Don't want to say anything about the condition of the guitar because the photo is not clear enough for that.
What I can see is that this is not a JF-30 from 1988 but a much more recent instrument. Also the color is not Amber Burst because that's a much lighter finish. This is an 'Antique Burst' finish and that's what the AB suffix after the model designation stands for.
I would say this instrument is probably about 10 years old. If you're interested in the guitar I would check with the seller first.

It would make it easier if you would ask him about the ink-stamped date that should be on one of the beveled edges of the neckblock. It should be visible through the soundhole although they can be somewhat difficult to read. This guitar is definitely from the second half of the '90s.

Ebay is always a good indicator on current prices.

Just based on these two auctions it looks like Westerly JF30's are selling for around 650 - 700 hundred. Here are the links:

One on gbase for just under a 1000, however gbase tends to be a little pricey.

These are excellent guitars and excellent guitar values, Jamie, arguably worth $1,000. But, as the comp listings provided by Tim demonstrate, you can find one for considerably less money. One reason, IMO, why this is the case is that there are a lot of JF-30's available out there.

Especially since this one isn't local to you, I'd suggest you watch e-Bay.

Sorry macky but that's completely wrong! A JF-30 is a 17-inch wide guitar; a GF-30 has a 16-inch wide body.
