I’m curious about what models today correspond the most (and how) to a 2002 JF30.
- On one hand the price point in todays value puts it close to F40 (but that model doesn’t come in maple back/sides and it doesn’t have arched back etc)
- On the other hand its quite similar fo F55 Maple (however that model looks a bit more ”costly” and has more advanced inlays etc)

Would be interesting to hear your thoughts!

Talking about current maple jumbo models that is very simple...The only current US made 6 string maple model is indeed the F-55 Maple / F-55E Maple (formerly called F-50).

In the Chinese made Westerly Collection line there are the F-250E Deluxe / F-250CE Deluxe which are nice guitars for the money!

Whats the big difference between the F55 maple and the JF30, apart from cosmetic differences like inlays etc?

I don't really know as I never owned both. Simply looking into the former 2002 catalog shows those descriptions:

Rosewood vs. Ebony fingerboard and bridge is one difference in the wood I see, and a slightly better wood grade used. (AA vs. AAA on the spruce top)

Unfortunately there really isn't anything in the current lineup of US made Guilds that really fills the space of the discontinued JF-30. While the F-55 Maple offers the same jumbo body/maple combo, it's a much higher end guitar IMO in terms of tonewoods and appointments and the price certainly reflects that. There are many nice vintage JF-30's that come available on the used market if that's what you're really after.
