The coated DR strings are worth a try. They take a day to settle down as with most strings. I want to see how long they stay sounding great.hmmmm...my JF-30-12 is on deck for a string change this weekend....maybe I should postpone
Thanks StrangCongratz, 'er!

So after some more listening to these DR Coated strings, they are actually pretty good. Really nice for cross picking with a pick. Will most likely leave them on for a few months and appreciate the ease on my fingers. They for some reason are sounding louder than my earlier post. Must be my aging ears or the weather (can always blame it on the weather ;-)Ok. 1 week has gone by and if I can trust my ears, the new strings are slightly decreasing in volume. Not as strong sounding as what I remember the Daddarios were. The DR's still sound good but I seem to be playing harder to get the ear pleasing volume I am used to from this cannon.
That being said, I have placed an order for John Pearse PB Silks to try next. They have a .010 gauge Hi G and a .049 Low E.
Hi ChazmoGood luck with silk (wound) strings on your axe, 12stringer. I've never been satisfied with those on my 12-strings. I haven't tried the John Pearse version though. Keep us posted.
Congrats on the new guitars! Will eventually try the Elixer 80/20 lights on the JF30-12. Thank you for the recommendation. Years ago I used that set on my old busking jumbo 12er and they really lasted a long time! Good deal on the D4-12!!!Yes sir I use the EJ38s on my F212XL, sound just fine to me, and inexpensive I don’t mind changing them frequently as I play it almost daily. I just purchased a 2003 JF30-12 the other day. It’s already had a low pro setup and a pickup installed. I’m trying the Elixer NanoWeb 80/20 lights on this one. So far they sound great and silky smooth I can’t hear the usual squeaks. I use them on some of my six strings, they last forever and remain shiny seems like forever. But we will see on this 12er. But this JF30-12 got some weight to it compared to my F212XL. I‘ll try for another week to get acclimated playing at home. If I don’t think I can endure playing a set or two stage wise, I’ll let it go Before I install a neck strap button. Im awaiting a ‘93 D4-12 I just got for $450 in great shape. I’m guessing it’s super duper light like my D25, probably a standing giger’s dream, we‘ll see.
Thank you Chazmo! Sounds like a good plan12stringer, make sure to try John Pearse's (non-silk) phosphor-bronze set(s) if you like the D'Addarios. Very similar, but I like the JPs a bit more.
Thank you. I have yet to try those DR Rares and I do have a pack so eventually will get to them. Thanks for the heads up about themCongratulations on the beautiful JF30-12!!
I have occasionally used the DR Rares on my 12 string guitars, and find them to be a great bargain, and just a bit easier to play.
