Who knew? Is this Jeff Beck strumming 3 chords on "For Your Love" in 1965? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HU5zqidlxMQ
I think you've merely forgotten, it's been posted at least a couple of times before, and I think you even participated in one of the threads...
Guess how I know....:biggrin-new:

Note also it features in "Heart Full of Soul", but it's Chris Dreja not Beck playing it:

Think that might've been the first use of a 12-string in rock, coming only 3 months after "For your Love" which used a harpsichord on the single.
Also generally considered to be the first "raga rock" tune, thanks to Jeff.
Bonus trivia points: written by Graham Gouldman who also wrote "For Your Love", "Evil Hearted You" (another obscure Yardbirds gem) "Bus Stop" (the Hollies), "No Milk Today", "Listen People", and "East West" all done by Herman's Hermits, then after a few misadventures as a hired musical gun went on to become a founding member of 10cc.
-Resident Yardbirds (and Graham Gouldman) fanboy Al.

Hans,
You are a riot. I was only estimating and didn't actually count up all the chords. And yes I should know because all drummers (such as myself) should be able to at least count to 4. I'm still trying to conjecture what Guild guitar he is playing there.

Aside from that it appears that Jeff Beck was really into the song, and it goes without saying how he went on to much greater acclaim in the guitar world.

OK, I see, here we have the guitar players switching guitars, and the lick sounds a bit more traditional of Jeff Beck's style. THe Guild guitar also appears to be an F-112 perhaps.

Many moons ago Hans ID'd it as a -212, or possibly even a -312:

One historical update for accuracy:
When I posted in that thread I mentioned that "Roger" of the album nicknamed "Roger the Engineer" became Hendrix's equipment tech.
Actually that Roger on the album cover was Roger Cameron an EMI audio engineer who went on to work with ELP.
There was another guy named Roger Mayer who introduced Page and Beck to fuzz-boxes and later became Hendrix's tech, creating the "Octavia" for him.
Who'da thunk 2 Rogers?
And BTW for Hendrix fans her's a recent recap of some of Roger's insights about Jimi's guitar set-up:
