James McMurtry has been playing live Facebook concerts nearly ever Sunday afternoon and Wednesday evening since the pandemic began. Here he is from this afternoon's concert:

The Wednesday night show is one of the best hours of my week. (The Sunday show usually conflicts with a football game.) In addition to this, I believe he has a D25 and a JF-30-12 (along with an Ovation, a Takamine Lawsuit Martin-12, and an Alvarez baritone).

Between him and his son Curtis I know they have several Guilds. I still say his acoustic set at Poor David’s in Dallas about 15 years ago was and still is one of the best live shows I have ever seen. His early stuff is stellar. I have been terrible about not watching the FB concerts.. Need to change that.

His last album was great as well, and he's playing stuff off his upcoming release that sounds just as good.

Good deal! I felt like his writing hot a bit of a lull around 2005-2010.. I’m one to talk I’ve only recently started writing again. I’ll check it out.

Yeah, I can see that. "Childish Things" and "Just Us Kids" are two of my least favorite albums in his catalog. "Carlos and Ruby" is a stunning piece of writing, and "Hurricane Party" and "Restless" are great, but there are a bunch that are a bit below his standard. I think "Complicated Game" is a return to form.

James McMurtry in a lull is still better than most songwriters out there.
