After all the dissension about GAD Pickguards, I got around to replacing the one on my GAD-30R. I thought they were unique at first, but finally came to my senses. Not having a template, I found a similar template online. I had to fuss w/ the soundhole radius a bit to get it to lay the way I wanted. One outfit offered to make me a guard w/ Tor-Tis material, if I sent them an outline >but in 8 months time...lol! With that, I ordered a sheet of 7.5" X 12" Tor-Tis in 'Dark' from LMI along w/ transfer adhesive & went about making one on my own. It was a fairly easy task & only took a couple hours time. I'm thrilled w/ the results. Plus, I have enough material to make a few more... :D

I also changed-out the Tuners to 18:1 Sta-Tites, but in gold since I had them already. They operate much better than the originals. I wanted to retain the orig look w/ round bushings & the new tuners come w/ hex bushes, so I had hunt down a round set on ebay. But, when I got them, they didn't quite fit either. I had to ream-out the inside slightly for the 1/4" shafts...sigh!

If I buy my 30r back from the store where it's on consignment and calls to me daily the first thing I'll do is change out the pick guard. Nice work! Great improvement.
