Just got my '70 D-40 SB back from a new set up with a bone saddle. The luthier picks up and delivers to a local GC, so the salesguy brought it out. It was too loud to hear anything with all the high school shredders at work, so I took it into the acoustic room.

I played a song or two and some old guy suddenly slid out of the high-end Taylor/Martin room where various sounds had been emanating. He listened at my sub-par playing for a moment, then I offered him the guitar to play.

I like sitting in front of my Guilds (and Greco) when someone else plays. They sound good, real good.

The guy finally told me that when he heard the tone cut through the back room, he just had to come out and check out the guitar. Claimed his uncle was part of the Carter family, and that he knew old-time music. He could definetly play a tune or two.

And told me it was a keeper, could stay with any Martin ever made.

Now and then I kind of like to get some validation from an independent third-party:)
