Meet The Grey Goose - my newest acoustic-guitar acquisition.
Hand-made by my luthier in Saigon.

I wanted a blue goose. But they couldn't manage blue & white with Abalone.
I told them - ok - make it grey.

Cedar top, large soundhole. It's either small dread cutaway or grand auditorium size.

You might remember this one from the factory tour. I liked it there.
I bought it.

Here was the deal clincher for me - Cambodian Rosewood Back & Sides.

That with the Cedar top made this a unique guitar.

I'd never heard of Cambodian Rosewood until a couple of weeks ago.
Then guitarist from California visited Binh's shop with me. And we both
saw a Cambodian Rosewood there. I'd never seen a grain like it.

He ordered one. I got curious.

A week or so later, I visited Binh's factory for the first time.
I posted a thread at HC on that. Search 'Vietnamese guitar factory'.
You'll find it.

Here is a plank of Cambodian Rosewood at the factory.

I spotted this guitar among their high-end guitars.

The love happened when I turned it over to see the back and sides. (See post above).

I'm swapping guitar string from the States for it.
Strings cost about $350. I paid $50 for the inlay.
So it's a $400 guitar.

I picked it out in the factory. Usually, it takes
4-6 weeks to build from scratch.

Very very beautiful guitar Marcellis. I love the wood, the size, the inlays, even the goose. And I’ll bet it plays and sounds as sweet as it looks, and will only get better with age.

Nice. Thanks for sharing.

I wonder what it would look like with goose eggs as fret marker inlays...
