A near mint Guild X 500 from 1988. This version has a block under the bridge. This prevents feedback. I like this feature because I want to play blues on it. Now fitted with flatwounds but I am going to change this to roundwounds. Bridge will be swapped with a bridge I previously bought from Hans to intonate correctly with a plain g .
I finally found " the one"!!

Got to be one of the best feelings in the world. To know what "it" guitar you really want, find it, and purchase "it."
And "IT" looks like it. Stunning burst!!

Welcome to the esteemed X-500 owners club! That is truly a stunner. I know you’re over the moon with it.
The only change I made to mine was following GAD’s lead and switching the small MV knob for a full size one. Looking down at it, I couldn’t see the small one. Very easy improvement.
Enjoy it in good health!

Thanks for all the positive comments. I will have the guitar in my hands friday. It was picked up in Breda (Holland) up by (the son of ) a friend of mine and I will collect it at my friend's place in Antwerp (Belgium).

I am going to bring it to my local guitar shop to set it up for roundwounds.
Special thanks to Hans Moust for being so kind to answer my questions and assuring this is a fine guitar ( he really had this one in his hands recently).
Also thanks to Walter Broes for giving the golden advice to be patient in my search for an USA made Guild !

And of course thanks to my friend and her son for their efforts to collect it. Does anyone know a nice (guitar)song that mentions the name Catherine or Cathy (my friend once said that she liked - or at least did not dislike- my singing and guitar playing but this may have been a little lie to be kind hahaha ;-)) !!!

Seriously this is no doubt a better guitar than I deserve by my level of playing but I am so happy !!!

Last question : would the paint be nitro laquer or poly ? I did a search in the internet but the answers mention both ... (Either way I think it is stunning.)

That should be nitro lacquer for sure. (Correct me if I’m wrong Hans!)
