If you could only keep one of your basses, which would it be?

Is that a Gibson LG-3/4?

Yes - Gibson LGII-3/4 - or LG2-3/4 - 1957 I believe - I bought it at Knut Coupee' - hope spelling is correct - in Minneapolis about 38-40 years ago - paid 320USD with a cardboard case. Swapped original 3-on-a-plate tuners to Schaller-made Gibson tuners. I know - I had to enlarge the holes in peghead - irreversible - but I wanted it to be a functional tool - not a museum piece.

There is also an under saddle piezo pickup plus DiMarzio sounhole pickup. They are wired into a stereo TRS jack - another irreversible mod.

Also - there seems to be a steel thingie in place of one of the plastic-thingies - I just forgot the word 😂 - NOT irreversible . . .

It fits into Les Paul Protector II case - I did some cutting on topside supports on that case - also added two more latches to keep it safely closed. So the body size and shape are same as Les Paul.

And that TRC is custom made - the original resides safe.

Nice!! I have a '56 LG-3/4 that looks identical. When I bought it, it was a wall hanger... no tuners, no truss rod cover, no saddle, no nut, no pegs, and someone had half-stripped the back and sides. The auctioneer saw it on top of a woodpile in the garage when he bought out the estate, and he grabbed it because he knows "Gibson" and "Fender" will bring money. Neck reset, new tuners, pegs, nut, saddle, truss rod cover, fret work, minor crack repair, touch up/top finish, and a complete refinish of the sides, back and headstock made it playable again. It's not all original, but it is a birth year guitar for me. This seems a little off topic here, but this might be the one guitar I'd keep. I love its sweet, little voice. Before and after front shots below.

Can't do it on 2 basses only, sorry. I'd need the place where the pickup sounds like a gift from the Gods,
which would be the same approximate same place where the original Pickup lives on the top.

As well, I have a P-Bass Precision Lyte that weighs about 6.5 lbs. Great fun to play, plus, I'd love to hear my own Axes with different amps. What do you galoots think?

PS I have an extra Guild Bisonic pickup that I bought from a guy named Edwin around 2009. That's all for now, gilded

"The prototype from 1999 was admittedly too heavy to ever get into the hands of a large segment of musicians. Not only was the instrument heavy (about 20 pounds)..."

Dang! Makes a Peavey T40 or Ovation Magnum seem like a featherweight by comparison! Better pump some helium into them weight-relief cavities!
