I would pick a day of the week and play a certain kind of music on that day every week for 6 months. Monday would be Vintage Bluegrass, Tuesday would be Jazz, Wednesday would be Rock and Roll, Thursday would be blues, Friday would be Classical, and Saturday would be Vintage Big Band. The people would give me my answer.

Define "golden oldies". The kids in my class would say it's the '90's.

Just typed it into google to see if my own perception of the most common interpretation was "correct", and sure enough the majority of hits were for collections of songs from that period of '50'-70's AM pop/easy listening singles.

But gents, I got a confession:
I started the thread after painstakingly compiling a Youtube playlist titled "Downtown", thinking I'd be able to post a link to the playlist.

At which point my definition of Golden Oldies would have been clear.

But noooo..wasn't working and I had to move on so decided to just delete the thread. But noooo..."Waitaminnit, where's the delete post button?!?!? WTF?!?! 🤬

SO just said "Nevermind" and logged off to have my hissy fit in private 😇.

I come back to find it was taken up as an open-ended question.. 🤣

Ohhhhh..... I just noticed it's flagged "private" in my youtube lists.. maybe that's why the link doesn't work. Will futz with that later.

It's like 60 tunes, man..don't feel like tryin' to list 'em right now or doing a cut n paste of the list right now...🍺:D

OK Jeff, for you:

Want more? I'm only wondering if it's easier for a reader to see 'em all in one post and play 'em from there, or is one per post better?

Anybody? Bueller?

Not that I need to boost my post count or anything. :D

Oh heel, I'll put up a couple more of my favorites in case they light up somebody else's nostalgia circuits.

To e clear the theme is what I consider to be beautiful beautiful songs and performed excellently if not magnificently in most cases, too.

Feel good music that once again had me actually 2-steppin' in my kitchen while I cooked. 🍺😁

On that note your friendly DJ Otto Bot signs off, wishing you all a Happy Easter. :)

Oh Al, your hitting on nerves. Call Me and The In Crowd sound like the same drum track.

Perhaps the grammar nazi's comment was misunderstood by grammatical Philistines as an open ended question and not a correction?

I have found that, regardless of generation, most people understand "Golden Oldies" to refer to AM radio music of the 50's, 60's and 70's with the beginning and the end of the time span less important than the middle.

I'd do something bizarre like never play the same song twice or play a list in reverse chronological order or alphabetical order by the first name credited as composer or .....

Gotta have Ernie K. Doe's "Mother In Law" on the playlist.
