For more years than I care to think about my guitar has been in it's case unused. I carried it around the world many time as I'm a retired ship captain. I discovered this board by accident a few weeks ago and it has rekindled my love of music.

Even though arthritis has taken it's toll I'M PLAYING AGAIN!!

Thanks Again

Awesome story, Cap. Similar scenario for me last year. Now if I could just control my GAS problem!!!

I believe I'm starting to develop some arthritic symptoms too. I did some heavy yard work using a pick axe a few days ago and my fingers have been throbbing with pain. Its a bit better today, although they are still pretty sore. Can you control your pain and how?

Best...Ken

I'm 66 and the only thing I do is take Aleve and thank God that after all my years (30) at sea I've learned to tolerate pain.

My fingers look like the wicked witch of the West but I just keep goin'

Welcome to the forum! This forum has helped me learn about my guitar (1977 D25m) and inspired me to have it checked over. It is now my most played guitar.

Welcome aboard, capquest!
I'm an Aleve guy, too.
Did you pick up a few sea shanties along the way? Maybe you could share any of the nautical tunes you know.
Happy return!

Post well. Post often.

Welcome capquest!

Think I've had just about every anti-inflammatory med produced. The vioxx 50mg tabs were the best ever (for me) in controlling pain and stiffness. When they took it off the market, I had to quit running, and bought a bicycle.
Nowadays I only take Ibuprofen and a pain killer as needed. The other meds such as celebrex are too expensive, and don't seem to do much better than Ibuprofen.
I also have to take cortisone injections into my cervical spine, lumbar spine, both shoulders, both hips, and both ankles. Not as frequently as when I worked, but still need them every so often. At least I can ambulate, and still play the guitar!

Welcome Cap!

For me (I'm 62), Ibuprofen is the answer for my left hand arthritis. Thank God for that stuff because it REALLY works for me.
