Guys, gals,

I know we often fling terminology around here and people don't know all the jargon. E.g., today, someone told me they didn't know that NOS meant "New Old Stock."

So, please reply to this thread with acronyms/terms/whatever that needs explaining (and please provide the explanation) in the context of guitars/amps/Guildstuff, and what I'll do is create a (closed) thread to compile the information alphabetically and I'll ask Don to pin it for us.

Oh, and by the way, FAQ means "frequently asked questions." :)

PU also shows up instead of pickup.

IIRC - if I recall correctly
IMO, IMHO, IMNSHO - In my (not so humble) opinion show up once in a while.

"The Bible" and Vol. I are common synonyms for Hans's book.

Vol. II almost always refers to the yet unpublished Volume II of The Bible.

Beesley is usually referring to the book Guild Guitars by Ted Beesley.

I think one of the "How to Post Pictures?" question answers should be a sticky on the main board index page.

"HMMOGG!" - Holy Moly Mother of Guild Goodness!

IMHO, the GOAT LTG acronym. Qvart originated the use of HMMOGG, correct?

Lest we forget...

"WWWHMDW" - Wonderful Woman Who Hid My Damn Wallet

Chaz,

Great idea! :!: :D

I don't feel this would fall into the categories of acronyms or FAQs, but it might be a helpful resource. I didn't 'make' an electric guitar one, because I'm not that knowledgeable and I wouldn't know the best model to use as an example. I'll be glad to help, if an LTGer would serve as the SME (subject matter expert). :)

Double-click on the picture to see the larger version.

Toni

P.S. If I missed something or have marked something incorrectly, please let me know. :)

Actually it is a sticky in the Announcements Section of every Forum, but maybe it needs to be visible on the main page too.

Corona - Depending upon context a popular beer or the location of a factory that once produced Guilds.

Axe or Ax - a player's musical instrument. usually a guitar, sometimes a bass and I once heard a sax player drop the "s".

This is totally excellent, guys. Keep 'em coming. This should become a helpful resource IMO (in my opinion :)).

A "Hobo" is a guitar made in the old Neumann Leathers building on Observer Highway in Hoboken, New Jersey.

A "Mountie" is an LTG'er who reports counterfeit merchandise, calls out sellers for fraudulent claims and protects other members in cyberspace.
