I saw Alison Kraus and Union Station once..Jerry Douglas had a solo during the show, I think he played that medley.

He is a magician.

Jerry is an amazing player. I just love his fills and solos with Allison Kraus and Union Station. However, I'm not really drawn to the solo dobro stuff such as on the first video. I appreciate the talent, but it's not music that I want to listen to very long.

I like it much better in a band setting as in the second vid.

As a Dobro player myself, I really appreciate what Jerry Douglas can do. Trust me when I say that it’s not as easy as he makes it look.

I understand what you mean. Music is much like art in that respect; that it’s all a matter of taste. The wonderful thing about music and art is that it is so diversified that there is something for everyone and for every taste. :D

Lie down until the feeling passes.

Seriously, I think these are very tough instruments to master. I've seen Jerry, Mike Auldridge, Josh Graves, and several other masters of the instrument make it look easy as pie, however.

Tut Taylor played with a flatpick, but it's fingerpicks for most. Heck, give it a try if you want. If you want it bad enough, I'm sure you'll be able to do it.
